Gifts That Keep On Giving

Those that give, gather.

If you are in search of the perfect gift for someone who has everything, you might want to take a look at the resource list below. It’s also a great reference for holiday time (or anytime) when you have a bit of extra money and are looking for a special way to share it. Involve your children and grandchildren and help teach them the importance of giving back.

Animals and Animal Care • Donate pet food, toys, and cleaning supplies to Nevins Farm, MSPCA
• Purchase an honorary gift of an animal through Heifer Project International
Birthday Kits • Create a “party in a bag” (hats, plates, candles, cake mix, etc...) for a child living at a shelter and donate to The Wish Project or House of Hope
Blankets If you know how to knit, crochet, or quilt, you might consider:
• Making a baby blanket for the TCC (February) Baby Kit Project for Lowell Wish (Contact Cathie Seamen)
• Making a prayer shawl for the TCC Deacons' Prayer Shawl Ministry (Contact Donna Haines)
• Making a blanket for an ill child through Project Linus
Or, if you have a new blanket to donate, you might consider:
• Sharing it with a person who is homeless and living at the Lowell Transitional Living Center
Blood • Donate a pint of blood at the Saints Memorial Blood Donor Center
Books • Donate a new book to your local library (or to a school library) an have the book inscribed
• Buy a subscription to a magazine for your local library
• Donate books (or funds to purchase books) to a library that was damaged or destroyed by Hurricaines Katrina or Rita through the Louisiana Library Foundation
Building Supplies • Buy a box of nails for $10 or a toilet for $50 for the construction of a Habitat for Humanity house in Greater Lowell
Christmas Gifts • Sponsor an individual or family through the TCC Giving Tree Project (Contact JoJo Scharmer)
• Sponsor a family through the Lazarus House “Project Bethlehem” Program
• Sponsor a child through the Lowell DSS Office
Educational Sponsorship Change the life of a child through educational sponsorship:
• Haiti/Dominican Republic ~ New Missions www.newmissions.org
• Guatemala ~ Mayan Families ~ www.mayanfamilies.org
• Mexico ~ Harvest Hands ~ www.harvesthandministries.org
Food/Meals • Make a donation of food or money to the Tewksbury Community Pantry
• Sponsor a meal for 4 for one month for $25 through Lazarus House of Lawrence
• Donate food or serve a meal at the Bread and Roses Soup Kitchen in Lawrence
Furniture • Purchase a mattress for someone in need for $100 through Mission of Deeds
Monetary Donations • Make a donation to Rosie's Place, a sanctuary for poor and homeless women living in Boston
• Make a donation to the New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans in Boston
Sporting Event • Donate one game of your season tickets to children living at Alternative House, a shelter for victims of domestic violence
